Don’t Expect to Sell Your Real Estate Listings on Craigslist

Craigslist is a free (for most areas anyway) small-ads posting service which is being used extensively by potential home buyers as a source of research on the real estate market.

Many buyers use Craigslist as a way to review raw, meaningful data - FSBOs, distressed property sales and so on - all of which can give a researcher valuable low-level data on the property market.

These buyers are prepared to scramble around the raw data and follow links to unearth the deals they are looking for. Because of this, Craigslist can be a fabulous source of many buyer leads.

Therefore, its vital to get your listings on to Craigslist because there is a good chance that your listing can attract a buyer who may review it and subsequently click through to your main website, and - if your web strategy is any good - will possibly become a buyer sales lead for you.

So - get all your listings on Craigslist - it’s an important marketplace and offers real estate professionals a great, but simple strategy for generating buyer sales leads.

I have the good fortune to work with a brokerage firm in Denver that has a clear focus on million dollar properties. Even these million dollar properties need to go on Craigslist - not because we will sell it on Craigslist (although we can always hope!), but because each listing is a really great attractant for home buyers and thus an opportunity to generate click-traffic back to your main site and ultimately, sales leads!

At SPS we are constantly developing new ways to help you make your real estate marketing more automated and more effective - our Craigslist Auto-Poster is no exception. With a single mouse click, our auto-poster will automatically post a very differentiated-looking flyer to Craigslist (see image below). We offer two alternative posting designs and a choice of automated or manual posting for advanced users! Try it here with a free demo.

Are you going to sell your listing on Craigslist?
Well, probably not. But you WILL have a great opportunity to generate traffic and buyer leads.
